It’s possible to get an American green card if you sign up to the U.S.’s EB-5 immigrant investor programme and invest capital into businesses that create stable jobs for Americans. Private equity firm LCR Capital has created a dynamic fund through which high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals can invest the required legislative amount in which to gain American citizenship within around two years and earn a nominal interest on the five year investment.
The EB-5 immigrant investor programme enables foreign investors and their immediate families to obtain American green cards or permanent residency by investing in $500,000 (R6, 725,000) in businesses or real estate projects that create at least 10 full time jobs for Americans.
America’s EB-5 program was introduced in the 1990s under the G. W. Bush administration by the USCIS to develop or re-energise regional economies. The program has also been used to help finance large real estate projects, in addition to infrastructure, mining, agriculture, energy and restaurant projects. For example, the Pennsylvania Turnpike raised $200 million in EB-5 funds for their recent interchange project. This project is estimated to have created 5,000 jobs for U.S. workers at zero cost to taxpayers.
